Know Who’s Actually on Your Committee

Committee composition changes after every election, but the common knowledge of who actually holds which position tends to lag behind — or was never posted anywhere formal in the first place. A resident who moved in recently, or simply wasn’t paying attention at the last AGM, often has no real way to find out except asking around.

A title, not just a role

Separate from the permission level that controls what someone can do in Nivas Portal, an admin or committee member can be given an actual designation — President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer, or Committee Member. That shows up on a card every resident sees on their own dashboard, not buried in a settings page only admins open.

  • Visible to every resident by default — owners, tenants, accountants — the way a physical notice board naming office bearers would be, not restricted to an admin-only view.
  • Falls back to a generic "Admin" or "Committee Member" label automatically for any society that hasn’t assigned specific titles yet, so it’s useful from day one.
  • Tied to the actual account holding the role, so it updates the moment a role changes — not a separate document someone has to remember to edit after the next election.
Why this matters: most societies’ own bylaws expect committee composition to be public knowledge. A card that’s actually current is the difference between "publicly known" in principle and in practice.

It’s a directory, not a governance record — it won’t tell you the legal date someone’s term began, just who currently holds the role in the app. It’s also deliberately left off the security guard’s desk view, which stays a narrow, single-purpose screen.
