A society’s invite code is meant for its own residents, but it doesn’t expire and it’s easy to forward beyond the person it was actually meant for. A code alone has never really been proof that whoever typed it in belongs in the society.
Every join now waits for a person, not just a match
Joining a society on Nivas Portal now always lands as a request waiting for approval — even when the joiner’s email already matches a real invitation or a unit’s recorded owner/tenant, and even once that email is verified. Real access starts only when a committee member reviews it from Settings → Members. The waiting screen tells the person exactly where things stand: verified and matched (just needs a committee member’s approval), matched but not yet verified, or no match found at all.
- A verified match used to grant access immediately on its own — it no longer does; matching is a head start for the committee’s review, not a substitute for it.
- The waiting screen shows which of the three states applies, not just a generic “pending” with no explanation.
- Approving or rejecting is one action on the same Members screen already used for everything else — no separate tool to learn.
This doesn’t replace judgment about who actually belongs — a committee member can still approve someone with no automatic match at all if they personally recognize them. The matching is a head start, not the final word.
